Cloud Backupfor dental practices.

Encrypted, monitored backups of your practice software, X-ray archive and documents, stored in the UK and tested so you know they will come back when you need them.

Why it matters

A backup is only as good as the restore. Most practices only find out theirs does not work on the day they need it. Ours are monitored every day and tested regularly.

What we protect

Everything your practice cannot lose.

The data that would stop your practice if it disappeared, backed up automatically every day.

Practice software

The database behind server-based systems such as Exact and R4, captured consistently so it can be restored cleanly.

  • Database-aware backups
  • Scheduled daily
  • Point-in-time restore

Imaging archive

X-rays, OPGs, CBCT scans and intraoral photos, often the largest and most irreplaceable data in the practice.

  • Full imaging archive
  • Large CBCT volumes
  • Incremental after the first run

Documents & shared files

Letters, policies, scanned forms and shared folders that the practice relies on day to day.

  • Shared folders
  • Practice documents
  • Version history
How it is protected

Built for patient data.

Every backup is designed around the security your patients expect and the questions the DSP Toolkit asks.

Encrypted end to end

Data is encrypted before it leaves the practice and stays encrypted in storage.

Stored in the UK

Off-site copies live in UK data centres.

Multiple restore points

A history of versions, so you can go back to before a mistake or an attack.

Monitored, not assumed

Every job is monitored and failures are acted on.

Restores tested

We test that data comes back, not just that it was copied.

Local copy option

Keep a copy on site for fast restores of large data.

Cloud & local

Fast local restores. Safe off-site copies.

A local copy means a large imaging archive or server can be restored quickly without waiting on the internet. The encrypted cloud copy means your data survives fire, flood, theft or ransomware at the practice.

How it works

Set up once. Watched every day.

From a review of what you have today to tested, monitored backups.

  1. 1

    Review

We look at what you hold, where it lives and how it is backed up today.

  2. 2

    Set up

Backups configured for your practice software, imaging archive and documents.

  3. 3

    First backup

A full initial copy, then fast incremental backups after that.

  4. 4

    Monitor

Every job checked, with failures acted on rather than ignored.

  5. 5

    Test restores

Regular test restores so you know recovery actually works.

FAQ

Backups, explained.

Backups are also covered by our Dental IT Support.

What do you back up?

Your practice management database (for server-based systems such as Exact and R4), your imaging archive, practice documents and any other folders you rely on. If you use a cloud practice system such as Dentally, we focus on everything that still lives in the practice: X-rays, scans, letters and shared files.

Where is our data stored?

Off-site copies are stored in UK data centres, and they are encrypted before they leave your practice, so patient data is protected in transit and at rest.

Would backups survive a ransomware attack?

That is what multiple restore points are for. Backups are kept separately from your practice network with a history of versions, so if files are encrypted by ransomware we can restore them from a point before the attack.

How quickly can you restore?

Individual files and folders can usually be restored remotely within our response targets. Restoring a whole server takes longer and depends on the amount of data, which is why a local copy for fast restores is worth having alongside the cloud.

How do we know the backups are working?

We monitor every backup job and act on any failure, so you are not relying on someone checking an email. We also test restores, so you know your data actually comes back when you need it.

Does this help with our DSP Toolkit?

Yes. The DSP Toolkit asks about backups and whether they are tested. As your IT provider we can give you evidence of your backup setup, monitoring and restore tests for your submission.
